Confined Space Awareness

This training course has been designed as an awareness level course to help learners understand the risks associated with confined space entry and safe working.

Every year a number of people are killed or seriously injured due to working in confined spaces, mainly because they are unaware of the dangers, poorly trained or the correct safety arrangements have not been put in place.

Course Content

The course covers:

• The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 & Approved Code of Practice
• Identification of risks and their control
• Workplace safety
• The risk assessment process
• Operation of safe systems of work
• Use of permit to work control measures
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), pre-use inspection and safe operation (IP rated, intrinsically safe and ATEX approved)
• Fall arrest systems
• Safe entry/exit
• Emergency procedures
